If it’s your first time, please arrive by 8:30 a.m. on Saturday morning for instruction. After that, it’s fine to arrive in time for practice. See the prominent sidebar running along the right side of each webpage for the up-to-date practice schedule.
Is there a charge?
No, instruction and practice are free. However, since we are guests of the Temple, we encourage donations.
How do I get there?
Saturday morning practice is at Bo Hyun Sa, a Korean Buddhist Temple in Southwest Ranches. Directions to the Temple may be found here. Directions to each practice location can be found by clicking through the links on the sidebar of each webpage or by visiting the dropdown “Locations” menu of our website.
I’m very stressed. Will meditation help me?
Meditation (in many forms, not just Zen) can be helpful in relieving stress and giving you a sense of well-being. The health benefits of regular meditation are profound. This has been proven in many scientific studies; Google it for yourself!
What should I bring?
The only thing required is an open mind! We recommend that you wear loose, comfortable clothing, and please avoid bringing anything that might distract others (heavy perfume, a beeping watch or phone, jangly jewelry, etc.). Please enter through the back door of the Temple; there’s a rack there for your shoes. Please be sure to wear long pants and socks. Please, no bare feet.
Can I take pictures?
Recording of any sort is not allowed during formal practice. However, feel free to take pictures, video, etc., after practice is done.
Can I interview any of the SFZG members?
Of course! Just ask!
I can’t stay the whole time. Can I leave in the middle of practice?
If you must leave during practice, please try to do so during the walking meditation (between 9:30 and 9:40 a.m. on Saturday mornings). Of course, if there’s an emergency, feel free to leave quickly and quietly at any point.
