One-Day Retreat: Saturday, March 8th 2025

Please consider joining us at Bo Hyun Sa Temple in Southwest Ranches for this wonderful practice opportunity. The schedule consists of Zen practice (bowing, chanting, sitting, and walking), work and rest periods, and vegetarian meals eaten in traditional temple style. It also includes virtual kong-an teaching interviews with Zen Master Jok Um (Ken Kessel). Prior meditation experience or attendance at our free newcomer orientation/meditation instruction class (offered three times weekly on Tuesday nights, Wednesday nights, and Saturday mornings) is recommended but not required.


Zen Master Jok Um (Ken Kessel), received Transmission in April 2018. He began studying with Zen Master Seung Sahn in 1975. He is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and has been practicing as a psychotherapist since 1983, working with children and families in foster care, substance abuse, outpatient and inpatient mental health and therapeutic preschool settings, as well as in private practice. He specializes in infant and early childhood mental health. He is guiding teacher for New Haven Zen Center and The Orlando Zen Center and teaches at the Chogye International Zen Center of New York, as well as at other Zen Centers and affiliates.

The retreat begins at 4:30 am and ends at 4:30 pm. Breakfast and lunch will be provided.
